Coffee Van Or Coffee Shop: 3 Reasons To Pick Cafe2U

Monday, September 22, 2014

Coffee lovers dream about making their passion their livelihood, and there has never really been a better time to get into the coffee industry. We believe that a job should give you at least two of three things. Firstly, is it something you enjoy? Secondly, is it something which allows you the time to do the things you want to do? Thirdly, does it pay enough that you’re comfortable financially? You might well find that even though your job pays splendidly, you’re working such gruelling hours that you don’t ever have the time to enjoy your money. If you really enjoy yourself but you’re not making any money then your work just might not be sustainable. It’s important to find a balance. You might not be able to find something which fully ticks all the boxes, but the closer you get, the more satisfied you’re likely to be.

When you’re looking to get into the coffee industry, you have two main choices. Are you looking at coffee shops for sale or a mobile coffee franchise? What is the difference?

Coffee shops for sale or vans?

Coffee shops have been on the rise for a long time. You’re likely to find at least one even in the smallest town. There is plenty of room on the high street, although your business will rely heavily on footfall. If no one walks past your new coffee shop for sale then you just won’t get any customers. It’s important that you’re in a good location where people walk past, unless you’ve got yourself a good enough reputation that people go out of their way to visit your café.

When you’re running a mobile coffee franchise, you can go where the business is which puts you at an immediate advantage. If a shop closes next to you and you’re a high street coffee shop, it can directly impact on your business in a very negative way. The recession proved that when a high street looks run down people are far less likely to go into the surrounding shops which are still trying to operate as normal. There is a direct domino effect which business owners will have to deal with. A lot of trade for coffee shops will come from shoppers who want to take a break from nipping into a thousand and one chains in search of the one object no one seems to be selling. If there’s no shoppers, there’s just no need for the coffee shops.

With a mobile coffee franchise you’ll be able to move around depending on where there is demand. This will often be at outdoor events, but one of your main sources of business will be to supply businesses with high quality drinks and snacks right to their doorstep. Many companies won’t have their own in house restaurant (although some large ones will), and those which don’t have to rely on brought in lunches and poor quality instant coffee. There will always be plenty of people who want to be added to your rota, so you’ll never be shy of business with a mobile coffee franchise.

With the flexibility this sort of business can provide and the joy you’ll get from doing something truly rewarding, the fact that you can make a healthy salary is almost a side note.

Are Coffee Menus Too Confusing?

Friday, September 19, 2014

With coffee shops for sale springing up wherever you look, everyone seems to have got a much better understanding of just what each variety of the world’s most popular drink means, or at the very least have found an order which they understand and which they enjoy.

Easy drinking: The latte is renamed 'really really milky coffee' while the mocha is now 'chocolate flavoured coffee

A few years ago though, a department store decided that the difference between an Americano and a latte, a mocha and a macchiato were simply too confusing, and so they dumbed down their menu. The latte because ‘really really milky coffee’, and a cappuccino became ‘frothy coffee’. The menu was stripped of all Italian coffee culture influence, and with it, some of the novelty of the coffee shop for sale was lost.

While some people might be happy with the simplified menu, others found the whole thing quite patronising. After all, we all know that an espresso is a shot of coffee, don’t we?

Okay, so we admit that more than a few of the terms you’ll find on menus in some coffee shops for sale might be a bit confusing, anything more complicated than the basic drinks will usually be accompanied with a bit of a description in any coffee shop worth its salt. If there’s nothing clear on the menu, any good barista will be more than happy to explain the drinks to you, and they might be able to point you in the direction of a new drink which will become your go to order.

We are firm believers that coffee should be a luxurious (yet affordable) treat. It shouldn’t be confusing, but it also doesn’t really need simplifying. By dumbing down the menu, a lot of that class is stripped away and it feels more like a greasy spoon experience. Of course the drinks themselves haven’t changed, and neither has the branding of the restaurants, but the whole tone seems completely different. If you want to educate people in the art of coffee, why not include these descriptors alongside the proper names for the drinks? By simply having the simplified English descriptions of each order then anyone who didn’t know what a latte was would still not know what a latte was when they left, even if they had a large really really milky coffee.

For those of you who weren’t quite sure, an espresso (or a shot of strong coffee) is the basis of all the drinks you’re likely to get from a coffee shop for sale. For a latte, you add milk to an espresso shot. An Americano is espresso which is topped up with water, with or without milk depending on your personal preferences.

If you want more information about any of the drinks we serve at Cafe2U franchise, just pop along and have a conversation with one of our highly skilled baristas.

Do you think that coffee menus are too confusing, or would you feel patronised by a simplified menu in a coffee shop for sale? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Making The Most Out Of A Mobile Coffee Business

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Mobile coffee is the newest part of the booming coffee industry. It’s growing all the time, and there are plenty of coffee vans for sale so if it’s an industry you’re interested in then you’re likely to be able to find your own little slice of the market with relative ease.

Whatever business you go into there’s likely to be some difficulties in the early days. Whether you’re looking at coffee vans for sale or you’re going to go into an industry that you’ve worked in for years, it’s very difficult to get a new business off the ground. In fact, four out of five business will fail within their first few years.

So why do these businesses fail, and if you’re looking at coffee vans for sale, what can you do to make sure yours doesn’t?

Learn about your customers

So many people think that’s enough to offer a great product with great service. Unfortunately, it isn’t always. If you’re offering a great product but no one wants it, it simply won’t sell. The same is true in every industry and for all time, although particular gaps and trends will change considerably over the years. Rather than forcing a concept on people, find out what they want and how they want it, and you’ll already be off to a flying start. It’s what we did here at Cafe2U. We knew the coffee stop industry was huge and growing all the time, but we felt that that area was more or less covered. Rather than further saturating the market, we asked ourselves, and our potential customers what we could do to improve the coffee shop model. As it turned out it was simple – we needed to find a way to bring the quality and enjoyment of a coffee shop to people when and where they wanted it – and that’s exactly what we did.

Make yourself stand out

In our case, we did this by finding out what our customers wanted, but this isn’t the only way to make coffee vans for sale stand out. When there’s lots of similar industries and sole traders in the same business as you, you need to do something which makes your different, and makes you the person people want to go to above and beyond. This is where your USP, your products and your services really come into their own. Make sure that everything is streamlined, and your coffee vans for sale are the best out here.

Grow slowly

Rapid growth is the downfall of many industries. It means that you’re stretching your resources too thinly, and you’re going to run out sooner or later. In all likelihood this will sooner. It’s much better to perfect what you’re doing and make sure that your business is running smoothly before you even consider expansion. With a franchise model like Cafe2U, it’s relatively easy and also relatively risk-free for franchisees because it’s already tried and tested. Each van is its own business, whether you own one or ten.

The thing with business is to make sure you’re giving it your all. With a Cafe2U franchise, there’s plenty of help and support for you, every step of the way.
