A Fresh Start: Why Pick Cafe2U

Thursday, April 10, 2014

When you’re looking for a new start in life or in business, you can easily become overwhelmed by all the options out there. Being an employee works perfectly for some people, and it might have even worked well for you in the past, but sometimes you get to stage in life where you’re fed up of being poorly managed, and you need a fresh start. You could just change jobs and start out with a new (hopefully better) manager, or you could change tack altogether and move into a role where you’re not relying on anyone else, either by becoming your own boss and starting your own company, or by joining a franchise, and becoming more or less completely independent while still having plenty of support and assistance on your journey.

Whether you’re looking to start your own business, or you’ve been researching coffee franchise opportunities, making the step away from employee status is quite a big one. And it isn’t always the easiest. Your career choices should reflect the skills you have, as well as where your passions lie. It will mean that you enjoy your work more, which will make life much more pleasant.

What our franchisees have to say

We spoke to one of our newer franchise partners, Geordie who has recently set up a territory in York. Before taking his first steps into his new career, Geordie had been running branded restaurants for 20 years – so while he’s new to coffee franchise opportunities, he’s certainly not new to the service industry.

Geordie loves Cafe2U because the support given is second to none, and you’re joining a knowledgeable team with a mass of collective experience. Best of all, they’re willing to share that experience so you’ll find your feet more quickly.

Of course, previous experience in certain industries is bound to help you with coffee franchise opportunities, but it’s not completely necessary. Anything to do with food preparation, management skills , sales, marketing, customer service or just dealing with people is likely to put you in good stead. As we mentioned, Geordie used to run branded restaurants before he joined Cafe2U, so he’s quite fortunate as there’s a lot of cross over between the industries.

When you join, you will be provided with absolutely everything you need to run your franchise successfully. That includes training (both off and on site) so that you’re totally confident with both the service and the business sides of your work, as well as equipment. We’ll make sure you’ve given the most up-to-date tools possible, to make sure everything runs smoothly. Geordie believed he’d be getting a 63 plate van when he first signed up, but because his training concluded after the new 14 plates came out, he received one with the newer number plate instead. It’s really important to us that you’re given equipment which is as efficient and as effective as we can provide, and lasts the life of your business, helping you provide an excellent service to your clients throughout.

We encourage our franchise partners to get involved with helping their community. Not only is this a great thing to do, it can also act as an excellent advertisement for your franchise. Coffee mornings and bake sale fundraisers have become more and more popular in recent years, and you can use your skills to make sure the quality of the coffee at these mornings is as high as possible. It also means that the mornings can be hosted outside on sunny days, as you have everything you need to work anywhere.

There’s plenty of reasons to choose a great coffee franchise opportunity like Cafe2U, so do get in touch if you would like to know more about the process and what will be expected of you.

5 Reasons You Should Be Drinking Coffee

Monday, March 17, 2014

The best way to start your day has to be a delicious cup of coffee just the way you like it. If you don’t have to get out of bed to make it, all the better. Often, after your first cup you’re going to want another one, and if you’re anything like us this will be at around 10:30am when you’ll need to somehow find a tasty java somewhere near work (or face the appalling quality of office-standard instant).

With the rising number of coffee shops and coffee franchise opportunities in your area, finding a cup of the nation’s favourite bean based drink is getting easier to do. If there isn’t somewhere near you, you can request the services of your local Cafe2U van who will deliver espresso based coffee drinks to you, when and where you need it.

To celebrate, we’ve put together a list of why drinking coffee can actually be good for you.

Boost antioxidants

Antioxidants are great, but many of us don’t get as many as we should. There’s loads of good sources, such as blueberries and strawberries and artichokes, but they aren’t exactly the easiest (or cheapest) things to eat at your desk every day. Instead of bringing in lots of fruit, you can just sip a coffee instead.

Arabica beans are rich in an acidic compound called caffeoylquinic, which boosts antioxidant capacity which you can sip at will.

Coffee doesn’t cause insomnia

Although lots of people think it is, coffee isn’t actually a direct cause of insomnia. That said, having a cup just before bed is a fairly terrible idea because caffeine wakes you up, and stays in your system for around 8-10 hours. Instead, have a cup from your local coffee franchise opportunity during your morning break and go to bed at your usual time and you should be able to doze off without trouble.

Along the same lines as well, it isn’t actually addictive either. While it stimulates the central nervous system and regular consumption can cause cravings, typically there are negative and life damages implications of becoming reliant on addictive substances – there are no such problems with a nice cup of coffee.

Coffee isn’t a diuretic

As long as your cup contains no more than 550mg, caffeine won’t act as a diuretic. You’ll be happy to hear that drinking a large coffee from a mobile coffee franchise will affect you no differently from glass of water the same size. All the water in your coffee will still help with hydration as well, so it isn’t all bad.

It’s good for the skin!

Yet another of the great benefits of coffee is that it lower your risk of getting the most common form of skin cancer, according to a study. We all know that drinking lots of water is great for us generally, and our skin in particular, but many of us don’t have enough.

We saved the best until last…

Believe it or not, coffee drinkers can live longer than non-coffee fiends. Not only do they lower the risk of various diseases (including type 2 diabetes, and oral cancer), but for people with chronic conditions such as heart disease it can extend life. A study in 2012 found that when people drink three of more cups of coffee a day, the risk of death is lowered regardless of whether it contained caffeine or not.

If you’re still not convinced, we think that the taste alone makes coffee worthwhile. It’s something to look forward to in the morning, and it helps most of us through the working day. The Rise and Rise of Coffee Culture in The UK

Friday, February 14, 2014

In Italy, it is the norm to drink a lot of coffee. In fact, it is actually considered strange if you decline a cup. A morning macchiato followed by espressos through the day, the Italian’s are known for their coffee love, and it’s a passion which has been spreading around the world with fresh coffee franchise opportunities popping up all over the place.

There are set rules about how coffee should be consumed in Italy. For example, milky coffee is exclusively a morning drink. The coffee that you drink after meals should always be black. Coffee should be drunk as it is served, and all our syrups and creams and other types of more exotic brews would be shunned by the Italian connoisseur!

Other nuances of Italian coffee consumption include:

  • Coffee is drunk on the go and standing up. It should be downed in one. Glad you didn’t go for that latte now aren’t you?!

  • Speaking of downing it one, coffee in Italy is served at the right temperature for you to drink it straight away.

  • You’d also never order “an espresso”. For our Italian friends, this is a technical term but it is also the default. If you order “un caffè”, you would receive an espresso.

In Italy, coffee is a lot more than just a drink. It is a passion, a way of life, and a drug that a whole nation is addicted to.

While the stricter side of coffee consumption rules haven’t yet permeated our little island, there has been a substantial growth in coffee culture over the last decade. In the past, we didn’t do coffee well. Instant was all we needed. Since then though the growth in the UK coffee industry has been unrelenting. There’s a coffee shop on every street through town, and they’re rarely empty. A generation grew up watching Friends spend hours in Central Perk, sipping on hot cups of coffee, and that generation wanted in.

With the growth of the industry, and Britain’s growing love for truly quality beverages, there has been an influx of coffee franchise opportunities. While pubs go out of business, the humble coffee outlet is here to stay in all of its many forms.

When you don’t work in a town though, it can be difficult to guarantee a good coffee. Despite our old habits, instant is just not good enough anymore. You can buy machines to make coffee at home, but it can be expensive, and unless your beans stored properly before being freshly roasted and ground, the taste just won’t be the same.

Few employers will want to splash out on the luxury and the cost of a professional coffee machine. The best coffee isn’t instant, and it takes time and skill to prepare. As quality coffee can barely be considered a luxury at all anymore, rather a way of life, you should demand better. Coffee franchise opportunities such as Cafe2U’s mobile coffee vans are able to bring  premium quality espresso based coffee made by highly trained barista straight to you at work. If there isn’t any other coffee shops or franchises nearby, they can be an absolute god send.

Mobile coffee franchise opportunities are growing in popularity just like the drinks they serve. There are plenty of places where it wouldn’t be viable to have a static coffee business, but with a mobile model, baristas can go where they’re needed, maximising profits and making sure no remote corners of our isle are left to suffer through dreary cups of rubbish coffee. Say no to instant, and yes to coffee where and when you need it.
